Claims, forms, and applications lay the foundation for the healthcare industry. Is your foundation firm?
Under the Affordable Care Act, the number of insured individuals in the U.S. has increased dramatically. And with it comes an increase in applications and claims, as well as new regulations to govern them. Even for the most established healthcare payers, thriving in the new landscape starts at the foundation—with the documents that connect your members to the services they need. Partner with Firstsource to ensure that those documents are processed efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance right from the start.
Firstsource’s dedicated professionals, high-speed/high-volume technology, and best-practice automated processes allow us to manage more than .5 million documents per month, all within a comprehensive compliance framework for privacy and data protection. Through proprietary systems and deep domain expertise, we are able to provide industry-leading mailroom, workflow, and document management solutions to our payer clients, so that you can do what you do best: provide excellent service to your members.
When every envelope matters
Mail Receipt and Initial Sort
Hard-copy documents shipped to Firstsource or delivered directly to a dedicated P.O. box are opened, separated, sorted, and batched by hand for further processing. Trained document-management professionals are responsible for all manual processing and manual data entry as needed. A proprietary tracking system maintains real-time inventory control during these early stages of the document management process.
Document Classification and Electronic Sorting
Firstsource’s software engine is capable of classifying documents by form type, document content, or other characteristics customizable to your specifications. The documents are then automatically sorted for high-speed batch scanning. Unique bar codes track each document throughout the process to ensure accuracy and data security.
Turning documents into data
High-Performance, High-Definition Scanning
For ultimate efficiency, our high-speed scanners can process as many as 9,000 pages per hour, reducing arduous document imaging tasks from hours to mere minutes. The high-definition output produces fully digitized documents without missing characters, losing legibility, or compromising accuracy throughout the rest of the claims process.
OCR and ICR
Optical character recognition (OCR) and intelligent character recognition (ICR) extract business-critical data from the digitized documents for processing and indexing, with multiple levels of integrated database validation. Data capture can be tailored to incorporate custom fields, with output generated in formats including ANSI 837, NSF, XML, and flat file.
The crucial tools of your business, always within reach
When delays in claims processing, reimbursements, or adjudication can result in costly fines, workflow inefficiencies can be measured not in minutes but in dollars. Our fully automated workflow solutions ensure accuracy and efficiency from end to end, even for the most complex and nonlinear of claims.
- A secure, centralized data repository stores policy and claim data for on-demand access by all necessary parties, in localized or distributed locations.
- Automatic digital routing eliminates delays and improves cycle times.
- Data is transmitted without risk of loss, corruption, or human error associated with manual processing.
- Audit trails identify sources of delay or inaccuracy within your operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
For purposes of efficient data utilization, imaged documents are indexed using our proprietary data entry system and loaded to our document management system. This centralized system serves as a hub for our automated workflow processes and as a secure, online point of access for future needs, in an easily searched and sorted format. An archival CD of your imaged documents is provided to you, and hard copies are maintained at our facility for up to a decade.
